I've got a comment on one of my photos from an unknown person saying something like "I used this image for my business cards. Thanks!". Now am I missing something? Because I thought the right way to do it was to ask for permission first. And if you don't receive it, you deal with it and look somewhere else. There are plenty sites that offer free stock images to be used just for such purposes and many of them have high quality imagery. So why do you have to rip off artists who anyway have a hard time earning their living out of the images they create?
I am sorry, but from now on I'm going to watermark all the images I put here and will remove the download option. I know that a watermark on the edge of the picture can be easily cropped out (I don't want to ruin their esthetic completely by writing all over them), but I hope people will have at least the decency to not do that. Although they probably won't, but at least I could charge them money for copyright infringement then.
It's not the first time this happens. I have found my Hugo Boss photo on different blogs, cropped and painted over. If I don't mind that much people posting my image elsewhere and not crediting, I won't accept them modifying them by their will and completely ruining them!
